Marilyn comes to London

From that iconic subway vent moment to Michelle Williams' recent portrayal of the screen siren, Marilyn Monroe has always been something of a fascination. She wasn't the skinny girl, nor was she the best singer or actress, but she just had that special something, a je ne sais quoi that won the hearts of Hollywood and beyond. One thing is for sure, her impeccable and individual style certainly added to her allure, so much so that it went on to shape 1950s fashion. And as a fan of glamorous dresses, she is undoubtedly one of Team LBD's all-time heroes.

To commemorate and celebrate the beautiful, stylish and incredibly photogenic star that Marilyn was, Getty Images Gallery has just announced they are opening an exhibition in her name next month. 'Marilyn' will include imagery from Monroe's early years as an aspiring actress through to her rise to international stardom. Accompanying the photographs will be original film costumes and dresses from the legendary collection of David Gainsborough Roberts, owner of one of the largest collections of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia in the world. Original video will also be shown, offering a glimpse into the life of one of the world's most famous stars.

Prints of Marilyn Monroe will also be available to purchase at the Getty Images Gallery, London. Marilyn opens on Friday 9 March until Sunday 24 May 2012. Admission is free. For more info, call Getty Images Gallery on 020 8834 3420.
