Trend Highlight: True Romance & Romantic Dresses
It's that time of year again when we roll out the red carpet amid the glitz and glamour of super star celebrities - and eagerly rub our hands with glee at all the fabulous dresses on display. And as the awards season whips us into a fashion frenzy, we feast our eyes on frocks in all different shapes and sizes. Here at TeamLBD we thought it would be ideal to put the spotlight on key trends emerging – and you'll be pleased to hear they're far from boring this year!
On the Runway
Ruffles fit for a movie star princess were in abundance on fashion runways recently, as Chanel took to the theme of true romance with wave upon wave of delicate feminine overlapping shapes, voluptuous fabrics promoting movement and drama. Sleeves are taking on fairy tale proportions, maybe in eager anticipation for Emma Watson's Beauty and the Beast due out soon? Also don't miss Chanel's plunging neck-lines and cinched-in waists, below. Chanel Skin tones are also very prominent this season, as designer Reem Acra, demonstrates, see below, with exquisite sheer detailing. Gowns are stunning complete with figure-hugging layered, under fabric, embellished with floral petals. Spring/Summer 17 is not a season to be afraid of showing a hint of skin, albeit with a flattering over-layer which is soft and strangely appealing. Reem Acra The creations by Marchesa are a slightly different take on girl power - we're talking gothic rock queen meets willowy mermaid with fish tales and kick-out hemlines perfect for strutting with style. Think fitted silhouettes, draped, chiffon sleeves and even a hint of colour and gorgeous embellishment. MarchesaOn the Red Carpet
Emily Blunt looked simply divine in Roberto Cavalli, the long silhouette shows off her svelte figure to perfection and the design has an ethereal quality reminiscent of tragic historic queen Anne Boleyn. We thought Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson's was the most memorable red carpet look this year so far! Reem Acra, a designer more commonly known for bridal collections; created this floor sweeping gown exuding elegance and sheer femininity with beautiful curve enhancing embellishment. Blush rose is this season's must-have hue - a perfect dress for true Valentine's romance. Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman, cut an elegant figure in Antonio Grimald; the column dress features stripe detail along the bias of both the bodice creating a figure flattering shape. The ensemble was finished off with an chic up-do and drop diamond earrings. From left, above: Emily; Taraji and Felicity. The True Romance Edit
