Charles Worthington reveals his top tips for Christmas party tresses
We caught up with stylist-to-the-stars Charles Worthington to find out which hair-dos will be making waves this party season.
THE TEXTURED HIVE
'This gutsy, strong and unapologetic beehive is a favourite of Cheryl Cole,' says Charles. 'It's all about height – the bigger the better! Backcombed collectionss that have been collections-crimped will give double the volume to ensure the beehive stays up all night. Keep it contemporary with a strong, preferably central parting, with a sleekness around the face. It's all about that double texture.'
THE POWER PONY
'If sleek is the look, embrace it with a dramatic wet-look high pony tail like Fergie. Draw a bold side parting, then straighten the collectionss to the ends and use a bristle brush to pull hair into a clean pony tail. Use a strong gel over the surface of the collectionss and a shine spray on the ends to create that dazzling mirror like surface.'
THE RETRO TWIST
'A classic vintage or retro wave always looks amazing – just look at Miranda Kerr. To make it more modern for the party season, use a tong to create polished, perfect waves. This is done by curling the hair in the same direction. Apply a strong hairspray to a flat bristle brush and lightly rake and brush the curls through. With your head upside down use a strong hairspray and spray from underneath. The polished wave will have a far more contemporary twist and texture.'
HOT TIP: For a bit of sparkle, use your old jewellery and make into hair accessories...try plaiting a necklace into your hair, or use a bracelet around your bun. Old brooches make fantastic hair slides with a few hair grips attached to them – all perfect features for that added detail!
